Chrome vs Safari is a smaller question than it looks when the page you are opening is the JiLi333 lobby. It is a web page in a single phone-width column, so either browser on your iPhone opens it.
The difference is in the housekeeping. This page sits in the the JiLi333 mobile hub and compares the parts that touch a lobby session: saved passwords, private tabs, clearing site data, reloading and which browser opens links by default.
Chrome vs Safari: what differs for a lobby session
| Task | Safari on iPhone | Chrome on iPhone |
|---|---|---|
| Saved passwords | Passwords app and Password AutoFill | Google Password Manager |
| Private tabs | Private Browsing | Incognito |
| Clear site data | Settings, Apps, Safari | More, Delete Browsing Data |
| Reload a page | Pull down from the top | More, Reload |
| Make it the default | Settings, Apps, Default Apps | More, Settings, Default Browser |
Every cell in that table comes from Apple’s or Google’s own help page, covered below.
Saved passwords and autofill
The login panel asks for a +63 mobile number and a password and carries a Remember Password tick-box. Where your phone offers to store that password depends on the browser.
- In Safari, Apple’s Passwords app suggests a unique password for a new account and fills it in with Password AutoFill. Turn that on under Settings, General, AutoFill and Passwords, then AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys.
- In Chrome, if you enter a new password, Chrome asks to save it and you tap Save. Manage them under More, Settings, Autofill and passwords, then Password Manager.
- Google says Chrome saves to your Google Account when you are signed in, or to the device when you are not.
You saved the login in Safari but opened the lobby in Chrome.
Safari fills from Apple’s Passwords app and Chrome from Google Password Manager, so a login saved in one is not the one Chrome offers. Pick one browser for the lobby and save the login there.
Private tabs: Private Browsing and Incognito
Apple says Private Browsing tabs do not appear in History on iPhone or in the tab list on your other devices, and that Private Browsing locks when not in use if a passcode is set.
| Step | Safari Private Browsing | Chrome Incognito |
|---|---|---|
| Open | Tap the tabs button, swipe right on the tab bar until Private Browsing opens | More, New Incognito Tab |
| Lock | Passcode, Face ID or Touch ID | Hide Incognito tabs, device authentication |
| Ends | Tabs stay open but lock when you leave | Session ends when all Incognito windows close |
Google says that in Incognito, Chrome does not automatically sign you in to your Google Account or other websites, and removes site data when the session ends. On an iPhone you tap More, then New Incognito Tab, and you can lock Incognito tabs under Privacy and security.
For a lobby session in Chrome, that means an Incognito tab asks for your number and password again the next time.
Clearing site data on an iPhone
Clearing data fixes a page that loads wrongly, but it can also sign you out.
- In Safari, open Settings, tap Apps, then Safari. Tap Clear History and Website Data and confirm the timeframe. Apple says this does not change your AutoFill information.
- To keep history but clear cookies and cache, tap Advanced, then Website Data, then Remove All Website Data. Apple says this clears data websites use to save login information.
- In Chrome, tap More, then Delete Browsing Data, pick a time range, and tap Delete Browsing Data. Google says the default range is 15 minutes.
Google lists what Chrome removes: history, cookies and site data, cached images and files, and autofill data. Passwords and passkeys are deleted separately in the Password Manager.
The lobby asks you to log in again after you cleared site data.
That is the expected result. Log in with your +63 number and password, let the Cloudflare Verify you are human check finish, and save the login again if you want it kept.
Best browser for iPhone: setting a default
Apple’s Default Apps screen lets you choose a different browser app. Open Settings, tap Apps, tap Default Apps, then choose the Browser App. Google’s Chrome page says that once Chrome is the default, links open automatically in Chrome, and that you need iOS 14 and up to make Chrome the default.
If you use both browsers, set the default to the one holding your saved login, so a link opens the lobby there.
When a page will not load
The fix is the same in both browsers. Chrome’s help lists these steps:
- Reload the page: in Safari pull down from the top, in Chrome tap More, then Reload.
- Check you are not in Airplane Mode.
- Close and reopen the browser from the App switcher.
For a stuck screen the iPhone force restart steps are next. If the page keeps failing, read the when you have no signal, and for a long session the battery life for long sessions.
