Fishing targets are not all equal, and the biggest ones are where sessions go wrong. Ordinary fish pay small values; special and boss targets promise far more, and they pull your fire for longer than you planned. Knowing what each kind does is part of reading the JiLi333 fishing pillar properly.

The kinds of fishing targets

Each description below is from the game’s own page on JILI’s site.

TitleSpecial target or feature (JILI’s description)
Mega FishingA Mega Octopus that continuously spins a reel; a Giant Anglerfish that shoots electricity to open treasure chests
Happy FishingSpecial fish of various functions; a Gem Turtle; the Special Octopus Wheel
All-star FishingStar bosses including a Naga Boss; a Bonus Wheel; an interactive boss whose multiplier rises as you tap
Dinosaur TycoonA highly multiplied boss dragon scene
Bombing FishingA powerful boss that may traverse the fishing ground
Dragon FortuneSpecial Treasure Dragons; crystals collected towards a grand prize

Bonus fish

Players call a target that opens a feature a bonus fish. In JILI’s terms these are features such as the Special Octopus Wheel in Mega Fishing and Happy Fishing, the Flying Dragon Wheel in Dinosaur Tycoon and the Bonus Wheel in All-star Fishing.

Boss fish

A boss is a large target that soaks up many shots. JILI’s All-star Fishing page says its big-multiplier bosses are “no longer unattainable”, which is exactly the line to read with care: a boss is still a target that costs a stake for every hit.

How special fish should change your shots

  1. Set a shot limit per target before you start, for example 20 shots.
  2. Count the shots you fire at a boss, out loud if it helps.
  3. Stop at the limit whether or not the boss is nearly down. A target that is “almost caught” pays nothing.
  4. Stay at your planned room level; the fishing room stake levels page shows why moving up is costly.

Special fish on a shared screen

On a multiplayer table every seat fires at the same boss. The multiplayer fishing game tables page explains why you should not race other players for it. Nothing about another player’s shots tells you when a target will fall.

Problem

A boss has taken most of your session and is still swimming.

Fix
Stop firing at it now. The shots already spent do not make the next one more likely to land.

FAQ

What is a bonus fish?

Players use the name for a special target that triggers a feature when caught, such as a wheel. JILI's pages describe the Special Octopus Wheel in Mega Fishing and Happy Fishing, and a Bonus Wheel in All-star Fishing.

What is a boss fish?

A large, high-value target that takes many hits. JILI describes a Naga Boss in All-star Fishing and a boss that can cross the screen in Bombing Fish.

Should I aim only at special fish?

Not without a limit. Decide before you start how many shots any single target may have, and move on when you reach it.
